This is a refreshing change from all the similar looking BlackBerry Phones. With the very first slider phone, RIM has made a impression. The sliding mechanism is smooth, though there are issue with no specific point for opening of the slider. It becomes difficult to use mute and lock button on the top once the slider is opened.

Despite these, the keyboard is well spaced with keys wide enough for smooth texting which is a relief as compared to other handsets.

The display of the Torch is modest 32 inches with resolution of 360 x 480 pixels. The nature of the screen is TFT capacitive touch screen which is similar to the likes of other BlackBerry phones. We certainly think bigger and high resolution screen would have taken the phone to all new level. As compared to other Android phones and Apple iPhone 4 it is a little lack lustre. Still as compared to other touch screens phones by RIM such as Storm and Storm 2, it is far better in terms of response and operations.

Amazing QWERTY Keypad

Just below the screen there is slide out portrait form of physical QWERTY keypad which is boon for fast and accurate typing. There is virtual keyboard also available on screen which has attributes like predictive, direct and corrective input methods. Still we prefer physical QWERTY keyboard any day for hassle free typing.

Controls and Keys

Below the capacitive display there is optical track pad which is a great tool for faster and easier navigation through the screen. It aids in increasing the efficiency while operating the device, scrolling through the list and copying the selected items is more simpler through this. With both track pad and QWERTY keypad it is a delight for the users who are required to read long messages and surf through numerous web sites.
